This is my second Gentoo penguin watercolour painting. This time, it is a Gentoo penguin with two chicks. 

In the icy expanse of the Southern Ocean, life is a delicate balance of survival and care. Yet even in such a harsh environment, love finds its quiet expression.

Squirrel Posting Letter

 

On a quiet winter morning, Squirrel set out through the snowy woods, a carefully written letter tucked under his arm. His destination: Owl’s red post office at the edge of the clearing.

Inside, Owl and Sheep were busy sorting parcels and letters. They both worked at the post office, serving the forest animals with care and cheer. But when they saw Squirrel arriving in the snow, they paused. It wasn’t often someone came all the way on foot.

The letter was addressed to Badger—Squirrel’s good friend who lived further north, where the snow was deeper and the trees grew closer together.

No one knows exactly what the letter said. Perhaps it was a thank you. Perhaps it was a simple “I miss you.” But in a forest where kindness matters, even the smallest letters carry warmth.

Shieldaig Serenity – Scottish Highlands Landscape is a watercolor painting that captures a moment of quiet beauty in the rugged wilderness of the Scottish Highlands. A New Puffin Watercolour Painting in the Making

 There’s something about puffins that never fails to capture my heart — maybe it’s their bright beaks, or the way they waddle with such quiet confidence.

Right now, I’m working on a new puffin watercolor painting. It's still a work-in-progress, but I wanted to share a little peek behind the scenes. The background has a soft wash of green and yellow — just enough to hint at breezy grasses or a gentle coastal light. But the real focus is the puffin, standing calmly, as if caught in a quiet moment of thought (or maybe watching the waves for fish!).

I’ve always found joy in painting birds, and puffins especially. Their expressions can be surprisingly tender, even a little comical at times. I’ll be turning this piece into a limited edition of 7 art prints once it’s finished.
