Venice Gondolas at Sunset, Now on Fine Bone China Plates

Some of Venice's loveliest moments happen when the day is almost over. The sky turns apricot and gold, the water catches the last of the light, and the gondolas rock quietly at their moorings.

That's the moment I painted in Venice Gondolas, and I'm delighted to say it's now available on fine bone china plates. 🍽️

The Painting

In the foreground, a row of gondolas rests against tall wooden mooring poles, their dark blue covers pulled snug for the evening. The water glitters with soft ripples of peach, lilac and gold. Across the water, the pale buildings of a Venetian island and a slender bell tower glow in the warm haze of the sunset sky.

I painted it in watercolour, building it up layer by layer. I wanted the scene to feel calm and slightly dreamy, like the last quiet minutes before evening settles over the lagoon.

Painted, Then Infused into Fine Bone China

These plates are made from fine bone china, a material known for being delicate and slightly translucent, yet strong.

My watercolour isn't printed on the surface. It's applied using dye sublimation with a heat-transfer process, which infuses the artwork into the china itself. The blues stay deep, the sunset stays luminous.

Every plate is made in London, England, and handmade to order, so nothing waits in a warehouse for you. Yours is made when you order it and shipped by FedEx or DHL. Taxes and duties are covered, so there are no surprise charges at your door.

As you can see in the photo, the gondolas design comes in three sizes, and the composition sits well on each of them. You can use them as:
