Tra i Canali, Venezia, Venice Canal Italy, Watercolour Painting
Buongiorno! This is my latest Venice series watercolour painting - Tra i Canali, Venezia.
A new watercolour art print, now available in my Etsy shop.
Venice: A Timeless Passage — original watercolour by Denise Wong
A gondolier on the Grand Canal. Sunlit palazzi in ochre and cream. Water the colour of aquamarine — shifting, restless, alive.
This is Venice: A Timeless Passage, my latest Venice watercolour painting, and it is now available as a museum-quality print in my Etsy shop.
The painting captures a gondola mid-passage on the Grand Canal, with the grand palazzi of Venice rising behind it. I painted the water with a lot of movement — blues and greens that change as the light shifts — and kept the buildings in warm, sun-washed tones. The gondolier and his passengers are silhouetted against all that brightness, which gives the scene its quiet drama.
Shown here framed in a living room setting.
The prints are produced on archival Japanese paper — thick, museum-quality stock with excellent colour fidelity and a subtle texture that suits watercolour beautifully.

Fine art giclée prints
Venice does not reveal itself all at once. It comes to you in fragments — a gondola resting beside a lantern-lit gateway, the long perspective of a canal narrowing toward a distant bridge, the sky turning gold above a row of moored gondolas as night begins to fall.
Each print in this series is born from an original watercolour painted in that spirit of quiet discovery. Each giclée print is produced on high-quality 189 g/m² paper sourced from Japan, preserving the fine detail and colour of the original watercolour; an upgrade to Canson Arches Aquarelle Rag is available.
Venice, Italy
A long canal recedes between sun-warmed ochre and stone buildings, a bridge just visible in the middle distance, mooring poles rising from the still water. A tree spills over the right bank in deep green. This painting captures the quiet depth and warm afternoon light of Venice's less-travelled waterways — the kind of view that asks you to slow down and stay a little longer.
Venice, Italy
A low stone bridge spans a narrow canal, its arch reflected in the still water below to form a perfect circle. Boats are moored in the foreground beneath terracotta walls; a street sign marks the corner. This is Rio Tera Secondo — a hidden passage that tourists rarely find, painted with the warm earthy tones and quiet drama that make Venice's back canals so endlessly compelling.
Venice, Italy
A row of gondolas moored along the Grand Canal, their deep blue covers pulled tight and prows rising in a rhythm against a sky of peach and gold. San Giorgio Maggiore stands across the water as the last of the day's light drains from the horizon. This wide-format painting is one of the most luminous in the series — the warmth of the sunset sky set against the deep blue of the boats is something that only watercolour can render quite this way.
