Macaw Parrot, Now on Fine Bone China Plates
Some paintings whisper, and some announce themselves. My macaw does the second. 🦜
I'm delighted to share my Macaw Parrot watercolour on fine bone china plates, where all that colour has room to shine.
The Painting
A single macaw perches on a weathered branch, glancing over its shoulder. Its feathers are a rich, glowing crimson, with deep blue and touches of green running through the wings, and long tail feathers that sweep down in strokes of red and blue. I painted every layer of the plumage in watercolour, because I wanted the feathers to look soft and alive, not flat.
On the plate, the macaw sits alone against a clean, creamy white background. There's nothing else competing with it, so the colours really stand out.
Painted, Then Infused into Fine Bone China
These plates are made from fine bone china, a material known for being delicate and slightly translucent, yet strong.
My watercolour isn't printed on the surface. It's applied using dye sublimation with a heat-transfer process, which infuses the artwork into the china itself. That helps the reds stay vivid and the fine feather detail stay crisp.
Made in London, Made to Order
Every plate is made in London, England, and handmade to order, so nothing sits in a warehouse waiting for you. Yours is made when you order it and shipped by FedEx or DHL. Taxes and duties are covered, so there are no surprise charges at your door.
Three Sizes, One Bird
As you can see in the photo, the macaw comes in three sizes, 8", 10.4" and 12.5", and available as a single plate or in sets of 2, 4 or 8. The bird is positioned to look balanced on each one. Use them as:
- Serving plates for a summer brunch, fruit, or desserts 🍓🍰
- Dessert plates for a table with a bold splash of colour
- Display pieces, on a stand or on a wall, where one bright macaw can lift a whole room
They're food safe. For care, machine wash on a low-temperature cycle below 30°C (86°F).
Ideas for Using Them
- A colourful garden table. The crimson looks lovely against white linen, fresh flowers and greenery.
- A gift for a bird lover. Birthdays, housewarmings, and anyone who has a soft spot for parrots.
- A tropical or conservatory mood. It suits sunrooms, verandas, and breakfast corners.
- Restaurants and boutique hotels. A single, striking bird on a plate is memorable for tropical-themed dining, terraces, poolside cafés, and breakfast service. If you run a venue and would like to talk about the plates, please get in touch.
A Little Colour for Your Table
I love painting birds because each one has its own personality, and this macaw definitely has plenty. I hope the plates brings a bit of that cheerful energy to your table or your wall.
